Front Back Rotor

2005.5 jetta brakes front pads look new with light rust on rotor, rear totally gone.dealer sez normal.pls help.

brakes started grinding @ 23k mi. inspected brakes myself. found front pads almost like new with light surface rust on the rotors, rear pads totally gone with shiny rusr free rotors, right rear rotor showing grind. put tires back on.took car to dealer. dealer. says that thier master technician has determined it to be normal wear and tear. therefore not covered under warranty. they couldt explain the light rust on the front rotors, and they could not answer. why there are wear indicators on the front pads and none on the rear if it is normal for the rear to wear first.

it is normal for a jetta to wear the rears faster than. the fronts. 23k is just a touch early in most cases, but not out of the question. normal is a little closer to 30k. you must be a little harder on brakes than most. i work for a vw dealer, so i see. this occasionally. if a defect in the car caused something to wear out too soon, them warranty will cover it. sounds to me like they just wore out. if the wore evenly from side to side, then ok. if. 1 side is worn out, but some left on the other side, then it may indicate a caliper or cable problem. you are not saying this, so, i think you just let it go a little too long.
