What used street bike should I get?

I have been looking at all kinds of bikes from sport to dual chopped Harleys and I think I've decided to get a street bike. I am looking at bikes no higher than 650cc. Idealy'd like it to get at least 40 mpg (I will not be on the throttle all the time), sporty look, get 0-60 times in the 3 second range, get 1 / 4 miles in the 10s or 11s, be under 410 lbs dry, have a top speed above 140 mph, have under 15k miles and preferably have a full faring in the front. I have looked very carefully at the Honda CBR600, Suzuki GSXR 600, Kawasaki Ninja 650, and even the Suzuki SV650S. They are all nice bikes but my price range is from $ 4000 to $ 6000 (I do not mind a minor paint scuff) and I just want some recomendations from people with more riding experience. Also, I might be willing to customize it a little to get some extra juice. Thanks for your input!

You should be looking at a bike suitable to gain some experience there. Although it will not match your stated top speed or acceleration desires, the SV650 would be the best bet for this. It would also be the cheapest to run - you mention gas mileage, but not tires, chains or brake pads ... the lighter twin will be easier than all these is a four cylinder sportsbike. Otherwise, go for the Honda - generally they're the best Roadbike of the 600 sports machines (though it does vary a bit year-by-year), and the most reliable. My last Honda did 34.000 miles before I sold it - nothing went wrong except a seat lock (repaired for $ 10) - it was still on the original battery. Do not worry too much about the mileage of the bike - look for signs of how its been well looked after, and the condition of consumables - tires, chains, sprockets, brake pads etc.. Often the machine with the higher mileage has been better looked after - and with regular oil & filter changes and a bit of maintenance, any modern 600 + bike is good for many thousands of miles - just look at the number of 20 + year old bikes still giving faithful service.
