Covering body panels seams with bondo?

have a fiberglass body panel and an original metal body panel. The metal one is curved in an extra 1/4 of an inch so it looks like crap. I could build up a bunch of bondo and then join the 2 seams and make it look like one piece however with that much bondo it may crack. The 2 panels are already held together by 4 or 5 bolts and its very strong. What I want to do is get rid of the seam which is shown in the picture link below however with an old truck and its vibrations will it crack at the seams and if it will what is a better way to cover the seam.

That's a hard one......

If its just a weekend truck, show truck... I'd sand the two panels as flat as I could get, and then do a few coats of bondo (icing) over it, feather it and then repaint. The seam doesn't look that big and shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe up the bondo to one w/ fiberglass hairs to ensure more bite and strength. You could also add more screws to ensure its a good tight fit as well.

If it still concerns you even with all that.... then take out all the screws that would effect these panels, and put in small rubber washers on the screws. To add that slight bit of cushion and flex.

This is one of those, take your time, mainly custom jobs. Hate to add cash or lose originality... maybe swap the metal fenders for plastic ones as well? Then you could actually plastic weld the 2 panels together, bondo, and paint as normal in turn making them 1 complete piece.

If you are good w/ metal... you could always unroll the lip you mentioned. And remake that lip to mimic the plastic. So its less of a seam and made to look more like a body line. Like its suppose to be there.

You can ask 100 body guys... and I am sure you will get 100 ways of doing it. Nice truck... I do mobile bumper repair, touch up paint, etc for high line dealers. I have came across a few old trucks like this one. Have thought many times of getting one and making it my work truck. To have that "stand alone" look.
